ED Recovery and Weightlifting | Geneva's Story (@ge3va)

"I've had an eating disorder since I was 8 years old, which I never knew about my parents thought I was just a fussy eater as I only ate small portions but I was so weight conscious due to family members always calling me fat.  It wasn't until 2015/16 that I got really poorly and lost 3 stone in a month, I was under 5 stone.

My depression was at its all time high because me and my partner had a miscarriage it hit us both extremely hard as I was told I couldn't have children. We were both in and out of hospital because of suicide attempts.

But together we got through everything, he looked at me one day and said I need help as you could see all my ribs and I had no energy to do anything.

I eventually got help and they told me I have heart failure and wouldn't reach 30 (I'm now 22) due to losing so much weight. So a few month down the like my parter being a body builder said I need to go to the gym as it will help my heart, the doctors agreed. Since then he's been training me and he's been my rock we support each other through thick and thin.

I'm now 6.5 stone and a lot healthier I still have a long road ahead but I'm getting there and we've also been accepted for IVF on the condition my weight doesn't go down. I've a clearer head, mine and my partners depression a lot better.

I guess my advice to people would be no matter how dark things seem there's always someone who can help. When my depression was at its worst I turned to drink and drugs and because of the help of my partner I'm now 2 years clean. I eat better and train hard."

Just want to say a huge thank you to Geneva for sharing her story, and wish her all the best for her bright future.
